in a 16 team league on yahoo with people i know. this is what our starting lineups will be:

2 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 WR/RB, 1 TE 1 K

On defense:

3 DL, 3 LB, 2 S, 2 CB, and a flex, plus 4 bench players.

since there's 16 players starting 2 qbs, i'm thinking i definitely take a qb in round 1, and want to take a rb in round 2, but don't know if i want to chance it. i have the 4th pick, so definitely a qb in round one, then sit back and watch what everyone else does. if everyone is picking up qbs, i guess i'd grab my 2nd qb in the 2nd round, otherwise run the risk of not getting a 2nd qb altogether.

plan on drafting all my offensive players in the first 8 rounds except for the kicker, who i will draft with one of my later picks.

right now, this is the rough draft of what i'm going to do:

1) qb
2) rb
3) qb
4) rb
5) wr
6) te
7) wr
8) wr/rb

and then start picking up my defense

really hate the idea of picking up 2 qbs with my first 2 picks, but there's only 32 starting qbs on sunday and don't want to run the risk of an empty gameday slot in such an important position. what do you guys think?

I think you're first 4 picks are about right sooner.

You could rattle the picking order of others if you take 2QB's and they realize they better get on it as well, but I wouldn't take that chance and would still grab one of the RB's.

And when your 3rd pick comes around right after your 2nd, you will still be looking at another good QB if that's what you prefer.....

we play in a league that awards .5 points per pass attempt, and a full point per completion, so basically a qb completes a 1 yard pass it comes out to 1.6 points. a lot of newbies in our league who i think will use the yahoo default rankings, so there should be some good value later on. looking at brees, p. manning or warner as my first pick since they throw such a large number of passes. the 2 best players in our league pick at the end of the first round and lead off the second round, so i may follow their lead with my second pick.

due to the large number of players in my league, i just want to ensure that i get 2 qbs who play every sunday. i'm willing to sacrifice a shot at getting an upper level rb or wr, as there's going to be some poor bastards who find themselves with an empty slot at qb come sunday

Since many teams are using RB by committee, this is the way to go. You can still get RB's like Kevin Smith and Ryan Grant in the 3rd+ round. On defense, go for tackling machines on poor defenses first, then DB, DL last.

yeah, i almost decided to get a rb in the 1st round because i think a lot of the newer players -- and maybe the older ones will -- but i got an epiphany while drinking a beer: once the bye weeks start, there's only going to be 28 starting qbs in the nfl, and in my fantasy league that means at least 4 people will have an empty slot at qb.

i don't know if my league commish has really thought this through, but i'm going to grab a qb in each of the first 2 rounds. it's also easier to use the waiver wire to imrove at the rb and wr position, but it's gonna be hard to pick up a qb off the wires. i'm trying to think of a 3rd qb to pick up in the later rounds that might have a chance to play at some point that i could use as trade bait later on.

the one thing that's killed me the last couple years is having 2 shitty qbs and defensive players who never recorded more than 1 or 2 tackles a game. that's what you get for letting the yahoo default rankings draft your players.

we'll see how it goes. don't wanna second guess myself. qb with my first pick is what i've been thinking for a while. i have my moments where i want to get drew because it's a ppr league. i'm also thinking most of the players won't be present for the draft because of how long it'll take and will use the default rankings, which means all the top rbs will go fast. by the time my 2nd pick comes to me i'll have the choice between a 2nd top notch qb or a medium level rb. so i take a 2nd qb there and have 2 top notch qbs and grab the best available wr/rb with my next pick.

but if i'm right, i might be able to nab a big time wr with pick 2 and still get a good 2nd qb with my 3rd pick. as far as rbs, i'm willing to forgo the top tier to ensure that i have 2 reliable starting qbs throughout the season. an empty slot at qb is too many points to sacrifice; i'd rather play the waiver wire with rbs if that's what it comes to.

it didn't go too bad. i got manning and ryan with my first 2 picks and nabbed smith and benson at rb. also was able to get v. jackson and royal at wr and p. crayton in my flex position. would have liked to grab one more rb, but it wasn't there. also got a solid d.

Sooner -keep an eye out for Mike Bell in N.O. If Pierre Thomas is hurting more than they are letting on, he is a possibility. Same with Fred Taylor in NE.

yeah, i'd really like to add a rb. bell is still available. thinking about dropping either crayton, deion branch or michael jenkins to grab him. i also have culpepper on the bench, so if he does get the starting nod, someone desperate for a qb might trade me a back. also have shockey and v. davis as my TE, thinking bout dumping one of them, maybe add some depth at d as there are still quality lbs left.....
